Knowing
Love is There
There could be countless ways to survive
But first in line is LOVE
The gift of which was given to us
from He who reigns above.
There could be courtesy to a stranger
Loving thy neighbor as thyself
An act of kindness to the elderly
as they're tucked away on a shelf.
There could be peace and understanding
in a hectic world of stress
With LOVE as the bottom rung
on the endless ladder of success.
There could be honesty enough to go around
if we only knew how our monies were spent
It's just not fair…having to worry
Never knowing for sure where it went.
There could be a celebration of freedom
At least that's what they say…
But, wait…take a look around you
Really…just how "free" are we today?
There could be satisfaction and contentment
We could feel proud of our personal worth
Strip away the greed…the malignant mental strain..
And simply get back "down to earth."
There could…and should be in Life…all these things
What beautiful ways in which to care…
But we couldn't master any of these
without first knowing that LOVE is there.
